I have been in pain for 2 weeks with contractions. I am 2cm dialated and 100% effaced. But the doctor will not induce. He's really hurting me.

you have come this far and now you want to possibly do something that you might regret for the rest of your life, Your baby, will come when it is best for it, and your body will be ready for it then. If it was ready now , you would have it now.

First, do you really want to be the subject of a write-up like:

"Amniotic fluid embolism associated with castor oil ingestion.

Steingrub JS, Lopez T, Teres D, Steingart R.

Department of Medicine and Surgery, Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA 01199.

We report a case of an amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) causing a cardiorespiratory arrest associated temporally with ingestion of castor oil in a full-term normal pregnancy. Risk factors usually associated with AFE were not found in this patient.

Second, suck it up -- to a point. I am near your situation; 36wks and contracting painfully, incessantly -- no sign of labour, though, but I'm not complaining about that. The baby will show up when the baby's ready.

But, go ahead and get mad at your OB if you've got nothing to relieve the pain. Make yourself as comfortable as is reasonably possible instead of forcing the kid out. There're painkillers that are at least as safe, quite likely safer as, an early induction; if you're that desperate, it is definitely time to ask your doctor to prescribe something.

i took it for my last two babies and it does work and no harm was done..
they use to use it along time ago.
it only works if your body is ready.
the first time i took it was with my second child, i was 40 weeks and 1 hour later it started to work. i was having contractions and 1 hour more i was at the hospital.
the third child i took it twice.
once at 37 weeks and the second at 38...
and this time it took more than 6 hours to work.
it worked for me. but it kept me on the potty.
my children were fine. and born heathy..
you can buy the little 2oz bottle and the best way it to drink it and then chase it with oj... it is very nasty but it did work. you have to drink all of it....

i would only do this if you think you are truly ready. and if you have dialated 3 or more. if you have been checked and yuou are 3 or more then i would say go for it..
beause if you are not ready you are going to be on the potty all night or day. and its not going to work.
and the best time is to take it in the morning when you are all rested up..

I think of the movie "Stand By Me" when I think of Castor oil. You know, the blueberry pie eating contest and poor Lard *** starts puking all over..........

I was told and have read that if the baby is ready, nipple stimulation, rubbing the web of your hand between the thumb and first finger and somewhere on your feet are all different ways to start contractions. I say if the babe is not ready, it is not ready for a reason. Only 3 weeks to go........

Please don't do that ! I did that with my first and all I got was a really bad case of diarrhea !
All that junk really does is gives you stomach cramps ( really bad ones!)
People say it throws them into labor , I don't know anyone that is has actually worked for .

You can try having sex it seems to work for some people . Nipple stimulation I have also heard of this working . other people say walking alot will throw you into labor . Any of these are better than the whole Castor oil thing !

Congrads !!!!

unless you like sitting on the toilet for long periods of time I wouldn't suggest it. I just watched "welcome home baby" and they talked about how all castor oil does is give you the poops. I wouldn't do it. Try walking but even that won't help if your baby isn't ready. He/she will come when the time is right. Hang in there you don't have much further to go.

Stop it. So, the calculating may be wrong. Please don't do anything. Castor oil is gonna make you have diarrhea, you don't need that now. Try to read somewhere, how to be as comfortable as you can, for this last little bit of time. I bet by the weekend, you will have that baby. Take care.

NO...no. I wouldn't do anything that would induce what should happen naturally and at my childs own pace! That is what the doctors are for. They don't let you go more than two weeks after your due date anymore anyway so hang in there!

stop this nonsense before you hurt your baby. Talk to your doctor but stop doing things to try and make the baby come. all you will do is hurt the baby and hurt yourself. So you wait a few more days if you cause some harm to your child you will never get over the guilt. Please stop the madness.

No way. All it will do give you the runs. The best way to start labor is to do a lot of nipple simulation and have a lot of sex. The same way that got you pregnant is the same way it will start labor quick. Have fun.
