The only ones who think that the rebel flag is fine and dandy are the descendants of the losers who fought to defend their ancestors belief in slavery.

Symbols don't "stand for" whatever you wish them to. The symbolism of the Confederate flag evokes slavery, racial hatred, and lynchings.

If you want a symbol of our right to fight the government, think of something else.

The Civil war was not about Slavery but the separation of States. Only at the end did Lincoln free slaves and he wasn't happy about doing it but they need more infantrymen. Study your History Books.
The Flag stands for Independence of the South.,Not slavery

The Confederate flag has been used for so long by groups like the Klan that it is inseparably linked with racism and the abuse and murder of African Americans. You may not feel this way, but if you wave the flag you will be seen this way. It will always make people angry. If that's your goal, have fun, but be prepared to accept the consequences. If you march down the street waving a swastika, the local Jewish folks are going to come after you with baseball bats and most people will cheer. The flag is no different. It's time to retire the flag for good.

The Stars and Bars represents a war that was fought, at least in part, to maintain the institution of chattel slavery in America. Its association with the Invisible Empire is unmistakable. We need a new symbol of resistance. My own is based on V. For Vendetta. For Peace. For Victory, too, but not in the war.

The rebel flag is a symbol of everything that the South stood for before they got their butts handed to them in the civil war, and then became the symbol of hate groups all over America.
now it is just another symbol of the failure of bigotry, within our great country.
you want a flag that symbolizes the right and willingness to fight an oppressive government, try this one:

Just as the left has the right to burn an American flag, then people ought to be able to fly the rebel flag althought many will accuse one of being a racist If that is true then burning the American flag makes one a traitor

Yes, it's that bad. I'm not Black. In fact, I wasn't even born in the States. But the only people in the modern world who don't think that the stars and bars is as much a symbol of Southern racism as a burning cross or a klansman in a white sheet, is a bunch of White people, mostly men, and almost all of whom come from south of the Mason-Dixon. It just screams Southern Racism. Put it another way - how you think of Blacks? That's how we think of you. The sooner you give up the racist notion that "The South Will Rise Again" (in it's old racist sense), the better off we'll all be.

I've always been amused by Southerners who proudly hoist the rebel flag. It's a little bit like modern-day Germans proudly waving the swastika.
