My 95 Ford F-150 truck won't back up when it's in reverse. What causes this?

the reverse band is burned out.

I don't think your tranny belt is the problem that would have no effect on being able to push the truck.I think you may have linkage problem maybe the truck is actually inf park when it appears to be in reverse.Try putting it in neutral .good luck.If that is not the problem the breaks could be hanging when the wheels turn backwards.

the transmission is going out in it that's the only thing that will cause it,take it by any good transmission shop,and have them check it ,they can test drive it,and tell you how serious this might be,but you will have to get it fixed,and soon to,reverse is hard to do without in anything,good luck with it,hope this helps.

Maybe the linkage is out of adjustment and your're not realy in "reverse".
