Good question. See, what happened was this: Ever since teenagers have existed, they've been angsty and wanted to listen to loud, sometimes violent music.

Now.....In the early 90's, they were all about grunge: Nirvana, Mudhoney etc. But then, as tastes moved on, commercial/mainstream music began to focus less on them bands, and more so on rap & hip hop.

But the problem remained: Teenagers (especially boys) want something they can flail around and "go sick in da pit" to, so....what better way to give them something to do that to, than to combine rap & hip hop (and it's production/styling values) with grunge? Suddenly you have these songs that have a (supposedly) tense, tight verse that builds up to a violent, "thrash like" chorus.

It's a VERY simple sort of thing to write, and that, is probably why so many nu-metal bands (Korn, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit etc.) suck an enormous amount of d-ck. Because the music is SO easy and SO generic, it attracts "musicians" who dont have enough talent to do anything else.

Yeah , you're right on both counts, i see a LOT of void in talent these days, and why is it seemingly everywhere you look and listen? Because that's what a lot of people want , forgive them , for they are but sheep that follow a misguided mass. LOL! Oh yeah , and to answer all the other questions to others reading this about "Why doesn't answers have a Nu-metal , Death Metal , Grindcore , Metalcore, blah-blah-blah metal category?" well they DO!! That's now the "PoP" in the "Rock and Pop" category. Haha suckers! what you all thought was "Hard" music is NOT.

Um, the project is...however a number of my faves are Disturbed, Korn, and Linkin Park, i do no longer rly hear to lots nu steel... Bands like gadget of a Down and Deftones are generally categorized as nu steel, the two the two lack traits. Deftones early replaced into nu steel, yet they flow into lots genres that calling then nu steel basically does not artwork. SOAD basically approximately lacks hip-hop beats and is going into inconventional varieties. The label option steel suits them extra helpful.

Because they are just copying older material. Take Jimmy Page, he played everything. I would like to see one or these new band's play a 12 string guitar like Page. Even the 6 string like Angus Young of ac/dc. Now those guys had real talent!

Because theres so many people who don't know what real metal sounds like, they mostly just listen to MTV or whatever and consider the nu metal bands there true metal when clearly it is not.

I agree with azza. They just want to make teens happy. A normal teen likes anything if it sounds good. They don't care about how much talent it takes. But talent is better, to me. You're never going to find musicians like Dimebag, Alex Webster, Slash, and all those metal legends out there.

Because bands want to look cool? And so do the fans for liking a band that thinks they're cool?
