First of all, the United States looked weak to the rest of the Western Hemisphere and made some of the other Latin American countries look twice at the United States as a friend. It also made Kennedy look weak to Khrushchev and would help set the stage for the Berlin Crisis in 1961 and the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.

it delivered a big blow to the US's reputation. Other people in other nations didn't pay attention to details, like the fact that the attackers were Cubans who had little to no training for combat. People just saw it as the powerful US getting beaten by a small island just offshore.
