Hmmm, and what do you have as an alternative in Austrailia?
About the sweat shops: (and this is horrible, but true) the kids are going to be forced to work there anyway, so you might as well take advantage of the prices (And if you hate sweatshops so much, never wear any Nike products anymore. They sell those in Aussie land too...{not meant to be offensive, just don't want to write Austrailia over and over. Sorry if it offends!})
They are really big...but that's because they have EVERYTHING there. Why go to a specialty store for every little thing when you can go to one big store. So I guess the reason we Americans have Walmarts (and Targets...(And at the low end of the bar)...K-Marts) is the convenience.
(Off Topic) Is it great to live in Austrailia? I want to live there eventually.

They are big and convient with so called One stop shopping type thing. I personally do not like them and would prefer to go to other stores. I also try to support family businesses whenever possible. 15 years ago they were kept up better and were not as repulsive but today they are just gross. The stores are kept clean, the lines are long, it's full of cheap poor quality products that don't last. The founder tried to use mostly made in America products and that is how they first became popular, but he is dead and now everything comes from China.

This right it quite is the third Millennia, son. because of the fact the action picture communique mentioned, "Be afraid. Be VERY afraid!" For those few YA-ers who do not memorize b-action picture communique, evaluate this: "in basic terms the Paranoid stay to tell the story." The call of Andy Grove's e book. specific, a similar Andy Grove who co-based Intel. Oh do not problem. He would not think of of putting in back doors in all those Intel computing gadget's. Sheesh, don't be paranoid.

Cheaper prices.
In Bradenton,FL 59th ST.W Cortez, they have a Suntrust bank. I'm earning 3% interest every 3 months for my savings account. The interest rate goes higher when you get more money. I only have $630 in that account. Hopefully, if I get more money in, the rate will go up to 4% every 3 months. This is the best bank because there's no fee or minimum balance.

I can't answer for all of us, but some of us like "big', we like convenience, and we like reasonably priced things. As for the sweat shops, you have to know that they are going on all the time, making things for many, many different countries, and only a small portion comes thru to the U.S..

Because I can't AFFORD to shop anywhere else. There's such a price difference. Perhaps if I were rich, I'd pay more attention to how "big" and horrible they are. Until then.....this poor girl's making a run to Wal-Mart.

I gave up shopping Wal-mart years ago when I learned how they treat their emplyees and of course the sweat shops- I will NEVER step foot in another wal-mart as long as they are non-union. Why do we have them? Well lots of people like CHEAP unfortunatly!!!

I love Walmart! It has everything all in one stop. Besides, who doesn't carry products made by kids working sweat shops?
