absolutely, we all know that if you stop fighting them there, customs will open up a special kiosk to allow terrorist a faster way into your country. They will be lining up at it to get in the country and because you are not fighting them over there you will be obligating to allow them over " here". It has been the most moronic argument ever since the ones that might fight you here are not going to be the ones over there, they are plants already here awaiting instructions. Iraq attack was for oil. Iraq was an ideal target because of the oppression, but it has not decreased terrorist. It has just given them a cause to rally around. People not governments have always succeeded over bad governments and tyrants. It just takes time. Our best defense is to have everyone aware of their surroundings and report suspicious activity. Police Departments can only succeed with the help of their communities. Without that help their job would be impossible. The so called "Fight Against Terrorist" has not included request for public support. The fight has been left to the military which is now almost expended. ~

Israel has been trying it for years against various groups (with American support) and have NEVER destroyed a terrorist group.

Al-Quaeda does not have the resources to make mass attacks against the United States... they only attacked the American continent once before 9/11 during the Clinton administration... just once. That was in the early 1990's and it took almost 10 years to attack the WTC again and the Pentagon. They just don't have the resources to hit us like that on a regular basis.

The other equation is the insurgents, the actual dominant threat in Iraq. Those people just want us to leave their country. They are not following us anywhere.

No, the terrorist are stronger now than ever, thanks Bush. Congress has voted for with drawl beginning in 120 days and to be complete by spring. If the Senate passes it, Bush has vowed a veto. The only way we will get the troops home is to remove Bush from office, or wait until we have a new President. One who will see the will of the People done.
