Yes, for the same reason that more Arabic looking people are suspected of being suicide bombers than Asian people.

Black people do commit a lot of crimes, and per portion of the population they do so more than whites. That is a fact which the police know. When they pull over someone they are looking for law breakers so yes some of them tend to pull over more black people then whites. It is a sad thing to say, but when you are trying to get rid of ants and roaches in your kitchen you don't buy a spray that kills fly’s. You target the most likely problem so you buy the ant and roach killer.

Racial profiling is mean, hurtful and honest. There are no two ways about it. It is much more likely that a young black male driving an expensive car and speeding is possible criminal than it is for a young white male. But, the opposite could be true and often is however more often it is not.

Do you prefer that airline security check people that look more like little old ladies and politicians or those that look more like the Arabic men who were involved in 9/11? It isn't fair, it isn't politically correct, but it is correct and that is the nasty thing about security.

Is it racist to pull over a black young male driving an expensive car? Yes, but like I said the simple statistics say that the cop has a better chance of catching a criminal by doing this. The way to change that is for the black people to stop becoming involved in so many crimes.

Yea, that is real easy for you to say, you aren't black and you didn't have to grow up in the ghetto; true. I will never really feel the same way that a young black man will feel when he is pulled over by the cops. It is a sad fact of life and life isn't perfect. The only thing that can be done is to change it. Yes, this is unfair and it means that black people will have to work harder just to do what white people do. But, white people had to do that to. It was a long time ago, but when the Aryan race immigrated to Europe the climate was harsher and living was not as easy. They paid the price to live there and they thrived there.

Blacks were pulled out of Africa and thrust into the cruelty of slavery, but if it weren't for slavery and the liberation of those slaves then those blacks would still be in Africa. Slavery is not an advantage, nor would I every try to justify the treating of people like animals. However, black slaves were left with an advantage; they live in an advanced nation. It was a painful price to pay for that advantage, a horrible one I cannot deny it, but it has been paid and it is up to the black people to take the few advantages in life that they have.

Yes, blacks and other non-whites get pulled over, arrested and beat by the cops more than whites, for a variety of reasons as already mentioned. First off, whites commit more crimes than any other racial group in the US, but that is partially because they are the largest group. Proportionally, non-whites are more likely to commit (or at least get convicted of) a crime (a black male is more likely to go to prison than college). This is due largely to a history of oppression and poverty, rather than anything inherent in people of other racial groups. In other words, it's nurture, not nature. If you look at crime stats by race, but account for economic class differences, the crime rates become even by race. In other words, poor blacks are no more criminally-inclined than poor whites. Also take into account the stereotypes of cops, judges and juries. Since there is a common belief that non-whites are more likely to be guilty, they are more likely to get convicted (even if they didn't do it) which only adds to the stereotype, fueling a vicious cycle.

I'll end with a story. I have a (white) friend who was riding on light rail. When the ticket checker came on board, he only asked to see the tickets of blacks and latinos. The guy walked right past my friend (who probably didn't have a ticket either, knowing him).

Yeah we do...and usually for no reason. Cops like to pull over black men mostly, if they have a nice car the cops will claim that someone reported a robbery or they got a tip that there were some drugs in the car.

Statistically yes. But it doesn't really have anything to do with actual violations, its based on Racial Profiling. New officers are trained (through training videos, practice and other materials) to make quick decisions on the job. In the majority of training videos and classes that rookies take, the suspects are minority. Also common on the news and other media, minority perpetrators are indirectly "guilty until proven innocent." Which in practice leads to more minority pull-overs and violations, not because they're breaking the law more then whites, but because they are being looked for in particular.

Minorities in general yes. I can't say that I have been, or even have the definite answer, but only an opinion. Minorities "tend" to be more involved in devious activity, or so thought. So there is always a higher suspicion when it comes to that kind of thing. Between the stereotypes and the racism that circulates, yea they do tend to be pulled over more..... or so it seems. Do we drive faster or more reckless to warrant such things, I highly doubt it. Hope this helps some.
