For me, it's outlandishly annoying. (More than it really ought to be.) I have to watch myself. My blood pressure skyrockets, I get angry and irritable, sometimes I honk the horn and flash the high-beams (especially when stuck behind drunk drivers!), and I have to be careful I don't get irrational and show all the early warning signs of "road rage".
I just wish some slowpokes would do the right thing and either (1.) Let someone else drive who isn't a chickensh*t driver, or (2.) Quit driving well under the speed limit and put the pedal to the metal, already! Or (3.) Pull over for a moment so I can legally pass.
It's that simple, really.

I always drive EXACTLY the speed limit, so I can kind of explain it from the other side for you. As seethingly irritating as it is, people behind me are just going to have to deal with it. If they're really in a hurry, I'll pull over.
Note: I almost never go UNDER the limit, that's just annoying. I think if people aren't comfortable driving the way they are supposed to, they need to not be driving. I'm glad you calm yourself down before things escalate. (hands-over-my-eyes scariness!)

i like to get right next to the slow person on a four lane highway. i go just as slow as them to see how many cars pile up behind me.

I get aggravated at them too. But they are no better or worse than people who tailgate or who pass you and then stop and turn off immediately after.

if i'm in a hurry they drive me INSANE!
if i could just take my time, they got on my nerves and get really annoying
