Why in the world would they want to trade A-Rod? He will pack the stands in a few years as he moves toward the homerun record of Bonds or Aaron and brings the record back to New York where Yankee fans believes it belongs. Money is not an issue for steinbrenner, he will go over the cap and pay whatever is needed for a winner.

A-Rod is one of the top 5 players in all of baseball, and the Yankees best player. Money is not an issue to the Yankees. There are some other players the Yankees could cut to try and find some young and up and coming talent. The only problem with that is that the Yankees frount office will not wait around to long for a player to develop.

He has a no trade clause and can opt out of the contract at the end of the year. Who do you think is going to give up major talent for a guy they cant keep? Assuming he agreed to a trade in the first place.
The Yankees should go out of their way to retain him. No team can afford to lose 50 plus HR's and 150 RBI. Trading him, if it were possible to begin with, is not a good idea.

On one hand, it's believable because AFraud lives in Miami during the offseason and the Marlins need something -- even a piece of crap, washed-up, steroids-using, 3rd baseman -- to try to draw fans next season. That said, I doubt the Marlins will get him for nothing even if the Yankees take Bell, so that part of the story is unbelievable. I, personally, think Miami would be nuts to take on ARoid because he is a player completely and utterly without upside, and he's so old now that a change of scenery won't reenergize his career. Loria had a run last season where he blew money on "name" players but none of them were washed-up when he signed them. I truly doubt that this deal pans out.

Who can afford his salary until the end of the year, unless the Yankees pick up a large chunk just to make a deal happen. The salary that he demands takes planning....and that's in the off season, not now.

You'll still be waiting a long time. Why give him up now that he's finally settled in?
