The ABS light on the dash of my Honda Passport has been on for awhile. I tried disconnecting the battery but it still won't go out. The brakes work fine, just want the light to go out.

Any suggestions? The dealer wants $500 just to diagnose it.

Even though the brakes work fine you could have a problem with the ABS system. you can drive the car with out ABS, the brakes will work fine unless you seed to stop suddenly then they can lock up, the ABS system prevents the brakes from locking up.

Shame on them. What Year? Passports and acuras should have the same diagnostics. Brakes can skid ABS light on and not provide the added safety of antilock. Most likely cause is low fluid in the master Cyl resv. Did you try Midas brake Muffler shops? Your honda dealer should check your brakes for free and provide you with a estimate of what work is needed or no more than a 1 hour charge refundable with repair for work needed. Second Opinion Is Now Needed. I guess That dealership is so busy they do not need repair work?

light won`t go out. Every time you start the car it does a self test and finds a fault. Check all wires and connectors at the wheels and control module (under hood by master cylinder) for damage and corrosion and also fluid level. check all brake lights. If that don`t work call around for price to pull up codes

Disconnecting the battery will not do anything at all. You have a bad ABS sensor on one of the wheels. Take it to a good garage, they will fix it for less than what a dealer would charge.

i just had this fixed in my passat. its either a module or a sensor that needs to be replaced. you will need this fixed because it can potentially make your breaks lock up.
