2 party country..just split and set themselves up as two countries - in line with what they believe - after a period of time, or should the country pay forever for poiticians to make the same arguements over and over again?

Wouldn't america be happier just split into two along party lines?

I'm all for that idea. I bet if we designated certain states for republicans and others for democrats, it would really tell us whose philosophy works best. Unchecked capitalism or social conscience, take your pick.

Correct me if I'm wrong on this but I thought a one party state was the antithesis of democracy and didn't such a split once lead to civil war in America?

And have two one-party countries? No, I don't think I like that idea. At least with two parties we avoid a completely totalitarian government in favor for a somewhat inept bureaucracy.

In the words of Winston Churchill: A democracy is the worst form of government, except for all those others that have been tried from time to time.

I have thought this for some time. The backward South and Midwest should be one nation, and the progressive Northeast, CA and West should be another.

Let the religious zealots have their unfettered capitalistic theocracy and see how long it does last.

I BELIEVE the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.
I BELIEVE in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.
I BELIEVE free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.
I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.
I BELIEVE the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best government is that which governs least.
I BELIEVE the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.
I BELIEVE Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.
I BELIEVE Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.
FINALLY, I believe the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.

America would be a much worse place if we split it, it's the differences that keep the extremists in line
