I'm considering having my tubes tied in October when I deliver my baby.I had a vaginal delivery and very easy recovery with my first baby and I'm wondering how this might affect things as far as recovery-pain and getting up and about, etc. Thanks, ladies!!

I had mine done 5 years ago. I was supposed to have it the day following my delivery, but I ended up having an emergency c-section and while I was asleep they did the tubal right there. So I only have the scar from the section. My recovery was a breeze, better than when I'd had my vaginal delivery 14 years prior to the section. Although from time to time I did feel some discomfort where my tubes were, nothing serious though. Then a couple years ago I had a hysterectomy & I don't have any problems. Good luck. 2D

i had my tubes tied last year. i was kinda scared but everything went great. i decided on the clips, went in for surgery, they took me in the back, put a gown on, hooked up an IV and the nurses took me back to the operating room, which wasnt at all like i imagined. they knocked me out, and the next thing i knew i woke up, the only bad part is you get some mild cramping from the gas the fill you up with, but its usually gone the first 24 hours, they made 2 incisions, 1 in my belly button and 1 above my pubic bone, you hardly seen them, recovery was great and i didnt feel any pain after wards, i did bruise pretty good though, i was at a party the next day lol if its something you want go for it, its not as bad as ppl make it seem. good luck!

A tubal ligation will probably take less healing time then the delivery healing time. They do fill your abdominal cavity with air to do the laproscopy so you will have some gas pain But like I said, after delivery, TL will be a walk in the park. I only missed 2 days of work. My only problem is that my belly button is not as cute as it used to be (like I care).

I got mine done when my kid was a couple years old, but I was back at work in 3 days. When they do the laproscopic surgery, the incision is really tiny and after a couple days, I started forgetting to take the pain medication they gave me.
