It is just as wrong for someone to say you are unpatriotic for being against the war as it is for YOU to claim all those who support the war "don't care about anything, and just let all the politicians do whatever they want."
Some people are against the war for patriotic reasons as you state, but some are against the war because they always assume America is bad & the other side is innocent.
In the same way some people are for the war for patriotic reasons such as wanting to get rid of dictators who want to harm our country & suppress their people. And some are for the war because they are mindless sheep.
A person can have the "right" opinion for the wrong reasons & a person can have the "wrong" opinion for the right reasons.
How about ALL of us try to be a bit less judgemental.

It's a way of tricking people into supporting the war. Unfortunately it's not very clever. That's why you only hear stupid people calling war opposers traitors and unpatriotic. Anyone with half a brain knows the difference, but the Republican party's prime demographic are the uneducated gullible people. See RLP, Ruth, Wingshooter, Brian, Sway, Blondey, CON-MOM, PNAC and all the other idiots on Y!A.
Does anyone notice that all the people on Y!A with porn stars for their avatars just happen to be super right wing conservatives, yet they use hookers to represent themselves.

Isn't. Never will be.
Putting your ideology above your country is.
Calling our elected officials (any of them) names is.
Treating our elected officials as "guilty until proved innocent" is.
So is a post like this:
Do you get tired of viddying Bush's monkey-like face?

That's what is unpatriotic. Not the protest.
Spreading unfounded rumors is.
Undermining our country is.
Respectful disagreement, dissent and protest are about as patriotic as you can get.
The problem is that most of the crew you are defending are seditious, NOT patriotic. They are social bigots, who popped up and attacked Former President Clinton seditiously. They pop up now and do the same to President Bush.
And if you answer them, they scream "Free SPEECH!" forgetting that we have free speech as well to answer them with. Their free speech doesn't trump ours.
There is no patriotism in sedition. There is no patriotism in political bigotry.
If you aren't clear on that, it's when you blame half of America for something, like you just did, or

"there is nothing unpatirotic about it. unfortunately, most people that have that stance would rather see the US fail. they would rather assist the enemies of the US instead of growing a backbone and standing up for their own country"
I would like to know how many Libs would actually like to see the US fail. The only ones that would are complete nut cases and not true liberals. This whole thing by the cons that libs want to see the US fail is totally made up and has no bearing in an facts or reality. Is this what the right wing radio told you guys and you blindly accepted it?
Please state who has helped the enemies of the US. Please be specific.

That's what happens when emotion overrides logic.
I am opposed to this war. I was raised as a Reagan Republican but now call myself Libertarian. And I am patriotic when it comes to the strength of the United States.
This conflict was started by Bush for reasons known only to him and his crones. He surely was not straight with us; he struck when the iron was hot (while we were still emotional about 9/11) and went after Saddam.
We should never have gone over there and we need to bring our people back now.

easily, no. The 60's have been a extensive era for activism, yet as quickly as we've been given out of Viet Nam, and Nixon resigned, there have been no actual motives to get obsessed with. How do you protest against Ford or Carter? 2 extreme high quality adult adult males, somewhat bland, yet no longer protest-inspiring.

As Dr. Samuel Johnson once said, "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel." If you can't make a valid, convincing argument for your position, wrap yourself in the flag and call your opponents unpatriotic. It works, particularly for Americans: look at the last two U.S. presidential elections.

There's nothing wrong with opposition to the war, just as there is nothing wrong with supporting it either. Opposition or support of the war is political posturing, which every citizen is entitled in this country (the United States).
My personal stance is in opposition, but I certainly don't begrudge or belittle those who choose the opposite end of that spectrum.

When there's no justification for the death and destruction caused by war, and supporters haven't a leg to stand on, they try to dismiss everyone by suggesting we're evil Americans who want to see the US fail.
The actual topic is virtually w/o pros, so they attack the source in an attempt to circumvent the issue altogether.
