Check your primer bulb. It may have a crack or leak.

I'm gonna guess that you've got a Briggs engine in your craftsman. To start off the term 'died' is a very vague term. If it will crank a little bit but then it hangs in mid-turn then your valves could be out of adjustment. A way to test for that is to turn the flywheel on the top of the engine until you get past the hard spot (which is called the compression stroke), and then try to start it again. Another thing to look at is your new battery. If you didn't get the battery cables tightened down all the way then your starter will only turn at half speed and not engage the bindex gear. You could also have a bad ground on your starter solenoid. If you are adventurous enough and know what to look for you could try to cross-arc the posts on the top of the starter solenoid (usually located on the right wall inside of the engine compartment with a red cable running to the starter) with a screwdriver. If it cranks when you do that, then its likely its a dead solenoid. There's a whole slew of things that can go wrong that might just need professional servicing. Self diagnosis can only go so far if you don't know what to look for.

Could be a couple of things. It could be the carb need adjusting, the fuel filter could be plugged or the carb needs to be cleaned and a rebuild kit installed. Try adjusting the jets first. Pull the filter out of the gas tank and see if it is plugged. If those don't help remove and disassemble the carb. Clean it making sure all passages are clear. Get a rebuild kit from the local small engine shop and put it back together per the instructions.

Since it starts and runs for a while, spark shouldn't be an issue. I'd be thinking fuel supply. Start by checking fuel filter, if it has one. If not that, you might have a gummed up carb. Carb cleaner would be something easy to try.

If you've attempted to adjust the fuel mixture already, get the owners manual (or find it online using google) and follow the instructions to set it back to the mfgs specifications.

A couple of other easy checks... air cleaner and ensuring the exhaust isn't plugged.

Good luck.

sounds like the carb is dirty as the jet is sticky get some B12 and clean it out you can mix a small amount with the gas

also the muffler will stop up with carbon and will not run at all or no power there is a spark sceen behind the muffler where it bolts to the block mine did the same thing I just cut it out and never had a problem with that

not sure but it could be dirt in the fuel line or when you give it more gas it's being flooded. you should read your owner guide the trouble-shooting part.good luck.
