I spent many, many years in the College of Hard Knocks. Didn't start college until my late 30s and then went straight through to complete both undergrad (generalist social work) and graduate school (clinical social work). I've been thinking of adding a nursing degree so take one class a semester to get the pre-reqs out of the way. Being an older student is wonderful.

I only have a GED, because I messed around too much in high school. I took some college courses while I was in high school, though, and I've continued studying since then. I'm always studying something, whether it's biology, physics, languages, history, theology, philosophy, or classical literature. I've thought about enrolling in college, and one of these days I'd like to, but looking through the reading lists for classes I'm interested in taking, I see that I already own and/or have read the books on the list. I get bored by repetition easily when it comes to education. I never studied for tests, and I hated beginning of the year reviews.

I was dragged to college in 1992 by a friend of mine... I achieved an associates degree in liberal arts and science\ humanities...... 12 years later I decided I wanted to become a nurse... I have completed 1 year and have 2 more to go in order to get my RN.....The school of hard knocks??? I was beaten by my ex husband for 3 years... he hit me for the last time and he tried to kidnap my baby... I got her back and had him arrested.... a 2 year restraining order was given... and I got my life back... there is my random rambling.

I paid fo rmy own education. they paid for junior college and that was it. As it should be. You only respect what you pay for and what you work hard to attain. Bravo!
The school of hard knocks will give YOU the "masters" life experience you need to get a good job with that degree.
