I think it has something to do with either the pattern and/or the cloth, but which is it? Or am I still off?

Plaid is the pattern. A lot of flannel shirts have a plaid pattern, so that's probably where you're confused. but flannel is thick fabric that can have any pattern (I have flannel sheets for winter with snowflakes on them!)

Yes as the other answer said, flannel is a fabric, the kind that pajamas are made out of and it is soft. Plaid can be a pattern like black watch which is blue and black and green or many other combinations. You see a lot of scotch plaids in wool fabric. But any fabric can be plaid pattern

plaid is a pattern, flannel is a material, often you will hear some one talk about a flannel shirt, these are typically plaid, so it's confusing! Good to ask though...might be embarassing to mix them up!

Plaid is a VERY cute pattern when designed for bremuda shorts, and very attractive when worn on guys! Plaid is a very common pattern for boxers too.

Flannel is a type of fabric that feels very nice against your skin! Flannel is usually in the plaid pattern though so that's probably what got you confused! I think that flannel is very cute when worn as girls pj pants!
