A cheekbone is very difficult to break. Sometimes needs surgery sometimes not.

Metal fixations are sometimes used to hold the bones in place, they are quite small and come in many sizes to fit just right.

They can stay in forever. They are not needed after the bone heals, it's usually easier to leave them in. Though they can come out if they cause trouble.

Many times the surgery is done through the mouth and will leave no noticeable scar.
