Wow--what a concept! Wrong? Well, if it is so cute and uplifting, the employee might not get the message. Here...let me write the song for you:
(to the tune of Happy Birthday)
"Here's a pink slip for you...
You can leave now, please do...
If you think that I'm kidding,
This security cop can help too!"
...plus, the singer should be dressed like Freddy Krueger, just to bring home the point.

Well, a lot would have to be depending on the song selected.
" You are My Sunshine" would probably not be appreciated.
"Hit the Road Jack" again probably not appreciated, would indeed get the message across.
Of course you may want to throw in a classic or two. Just to lighten the mood.
"Frosty the Snowman" while being totally unrelated to the circumstances, would put a smile on the face of the remaining employees.
Personally, I would go for a rousing rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" as the security people escort the hapless ex-employee out the door. Along with his little cardboard box containing the personal items from his desk.
I'm sure it will put a bounce in his step as he contemplates the loss of his house, car, and probably his wife.
Yes, it is a hard thing to be fired. But, why not go out with a song on your lips and a 4 quarter time beat in you heart?

I know someone who works as a prison guard and they told one of the prisoners in a singing telegram that his Mother had died. That alone has kept me out of prison.

What better way to add a little levity to an otherwise 'uncomfortable' situation? Go for it. Might I suggest "Good-bye to You"
