Farm Land = 440 Million Acres
Housing = 60 Million Acres Urban + 94 Million Acres Rural
440 > 154
Almost 3 times as much land is used for farming. It's not even close.

I would say there is more housing. Although the majority of land in the us is not occupied due to land features, I think there would be more housing because you can grow a greater ratio of crops on a small piece of land than you can house people. That means that people have to build more houses and lake up more land.

Way, Way, Way more farmland. Even in states like New York. New York has more acres of apple orchards, corn fields, and vineyards than acres classified as "built up". Although, the largest land owner in the U.S. is the Bureau of Land Management. This is all "pasture" land. Its neither farmed or built up.

In Ohio, it seems some jerk is building a fancy home in every cornfield they can find. Every time you see several acres of plants, you see some rock and glass McMansion planted in the middle with the obligatory swingset out back.

Much, much, much more farmland. Go through the midwest and states like Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma.
