My favorite is Navaho bridge. There is a bridge across the Colorado that you can walk across. At the same site and readily visible are nests for the California Condor in the cliffs--impressive by itself. Near by is a road to the bottom of the Canyon. The site of a ferry across the river until the bridge was built.

I assume that you will be passing thru on the way Mesa Verde NP?
Let me get back to you on this & then I'll explain to the two guys above me why I gave them a thumbs down.
Edit
I'm back
The quickest way to get to Four Corners is
SR64 E >US 89 N> US160 E
Obviously that can tweaked a bit
I personally love the drive up to Lee's Ferry after making the left on 89A and then crossing over the Rio on Navajo Bridge
If you do go that way you will have to back -track to US 89N go up to Page and then find rt 98 across the rez thru Kaibito then Rt 160 over to Kayenta.
As much I personally like driving that route, it will add 130 miles & about 3 +hours onto the Desert View -Kayenta trip . Four corners is another 2 +hrs beyond that if you loop it thru monument valley
Petrified Forest is not an option at all ;it may as well be another country
The painted desert while it does extend north only looks painted at sunrise & sunset
The hopi rez : While lower village is easily accessible from tuba city by making right at the next light after leaving GCNP- OK it's 60 miles- To really see the hopi rez you absolutley have to take sr 264 across the hopi mesas
If you do it that way then you go all the way to ganado then up thru chinle and back to 160 it's gotta be a 250+ mile detour.
The scenery is spectacular but good and services can be hard to come by on the rez
As newbies these are the types of roads you do not want to be driving at night
First of all it's open range Second of all hospitals are far and few.An accident that you would easily survive in a big city will easily kill you out there. In many places cell phones won't work By the time help covers the vast distance needed to reach you and then covers the vast distances needed to get you to a hospital w/ basic surgical facilties you could very well be dead.
The most of quoted statistic is something like " While numerically only 20 % of AZ's accidents happen in rural areas ,rural areas account for 80% of the fatalities." Something to think about.
I could give you lots of nooks and crannies to vist But I'm not going to xc for one: see if you can find the arch on white mesa -off of rt 160 .
To be continued......

Monument Valley is definitely the highlight of that area, and it is not far from the Four Corners. We spent most of a day there, and it is a magical place -- formations you'll see no place else, yet you've been there before because of movies and television.
