I'm sure they would have been home already. But due to unforeseen circumstances, we are still there and have to be there longer than originally expected. When Iraqi forces are strong enough to take care of the terrorists then they will come home. If we say OKAY WE"LL BRING THEM HOME IN OCTOBER, then the terrorists will sit back and do nothing until we leave, once we leave it will be a blood bath of "ethnic cleansing" and a big problem full of terrorists in Iraq. That is why we are STILL there. Hope you understand :<)

He can bring the troops home when ever he wants. Should he? Only if you want a civil want in Iraq. It's a little late to change plans, ask almost any of the the military that are there.
They will tell you that the civilians in the country want them to stay and admire the troops. We are in quite a pickle over there and I don't have any recommendations on how to fix the situation.

President Bush said it in one of his speeches; this war is not a war for my generation to solve it is war for your children's generation to solve.
We are trying to turn Iraq inside out and if we give up in the middle of the process then it will all fall into chaos and terrorists groups like Ali Quada will come in and fill the void. That's how the Taliban got control in Afghanistan. If we want to prevent Iraq from turning into another Iran or a hot bed of terrorism then we have to finish the job.
Even the Democrats will agree with that, they just want the Iraqis to handle more of the load. The US will not pull out of Iraq for at least the next 20 years. We will cut our troop numbers and limit our involvement, but we are saddled with the problem and we cannot get rid of it by just running away.
We invaded Iraq to fight terrorism and have now turned it into a terrorist Mecca. You want to know why Al Quadia hasn't attacked the US, the don't need to they are doing it daily in Iraq.
Bush doesn't have to pull anything to keep us stuck in this mire, he has already done enough. The Democrats will do the best that they can to get out, but they won't be able to do so without completely abandoning the country. We tried that in Vietnam and all of our work was destroyed. If we go that course here in Iraq then the nation won't just turn against us, the nation will become a world wide enemy of the US with the goal to destroy our way of life. I am not exaggerating here, Iraq will be taken over by the Shiite controlled Iranians and they will install another Taliban like government. The stakes are much higher in Iraq than in Vietnam.

He can but I do not think he will.
He is a control freak and I don't see why he would. How would it benefit him?
Also if he is voted out, what is the next person going to do? I just hope they're not worse than him!

He won't bring them home period. He wants to leave it to another president so they have to take the blame for this fiasco. Besides he still has another year to squeeze every penny he can for his good buddies.
