its a crime against what or who?...a truly victiimless crime~altho people refuse to see it, marriage is nothing more than a soft form of prostitution, legalized by the state..the woman gives it up for security and shelter...

I believe that it should be made legal. Then they could have special agencies to regulate things making sure there are no underage people or unsafe practices. They should be required to do Aids tests, STD screenings and all other health benefits. Prostitution is big business and the government would be able to tax it and actually put the money into health programs, drug education programs, schools, etc.
Why should I have to pay taxes and they probably make more money than I do?
If we kept closer inspection of the sexual business maybe there would be less sex crimes against women and children. If someone needs to get their rocks off sure why not just drive down the street?

Prostitution is present throughout man's history. Wherever you research....whatever era of time...it's there. I don't think it should be a crime if it is consensual and non-violent. There are very limited areas that allow for and regulate prostitution...even in the US. I have HUGE issues with women being controlled by a madam or pimp. Yes, it's a negative connotation of sexual acts for money and there are laws that attempt to legislate morality. I don't believe that with our nation as it is, the legalization of prostitution would EVER occur. Americans love to wrap themselves in a cloak of morality and pass judgement on others. We have too hard of a time with having an open mind.

N O, Prostitution should be LEGALIZED. The
revenues alone would bring down the US Deficit
in a year. Also, it is heavily regulated in countries where it is legalized. The prostitutes are given health exams weekly and have to be certified by
the health departments of said countries!!

I think people should be allowed to do what they want with their bodies without it having to be anyone elses business or problem.
If prostitution is a crime then dancing in music videos is a crime too. And possibly modelling as well.

I think it's just more of a moral and political issue...
I mean you don't wanna be known as the dude that voted to legalize prostitution in a Christian majority based country...

I guess prostitution may have been made illegal, because some women or little girls are forced to do it.
Some were actually sold into the prostitution, and the tv shows has always declared it such a pitiful job, so the authorities bans it.

Consenting adults should be able to do what they want with whomever they want for how much they want as long as they both agree.

Part of me says no, part says yes.
What if it were a young girl who was kidnapped and forced to sell herself? If there was a cop pretending to 'buy' her, she could be saved. The cops wouldn't do it if it weren't illegal.
Maybe yes, but hell, those girls that "need" to do it can just get different jobs!
