I have a daughter named Miranda. It is not uncommon, but not trendy either. I like it that way:) I have personally known only two other Miranda's in my life...an elementary school classmate, and the mother of one of my Miranda's baseball teammates. I also know a Myranda, pronounced the same but spelled differently (she is an adult also). We call her Mandy for short, although now that she thinks she is getting older (she is all of 9 1/2) she prefers Miranda.
We are expecting another daughter, and one of the two names we were considering was Malinda (and my oldest daughter wanted to call her Mindy). We eventually decided on another name altogether, but Malinda remains on our list for any future daughters. I know of one other person with that name, but spelled Melinda (an adult woman).
I like the name Marnie, but it is more of a nickname IMO (I do not think it would grow well with a baby girl into adulthood). But again, I LOVE the name.
Myra is a name that was once on our list of girl names. It is similar to my name (Mary), but is pretty unique. In all of my life, I have known two Myra's...a childhood friend, and a lady at our church.
Have fun!

I think Marina is lovely for a baby girl. Then there's Miranda, Merideth, Marisol, Madelyn, Maisy, Marissa, Melody, Melana, Melinda, Moira, Michaelyn, Mishoe (pronounced Me-Show), Mandisa (American Idol) or Micah. I think those are unique without being too crazy.
I have always liked Melinda spelled Malinda with a nickname of Mali (pronounced like Molly.) Malinda Faith has always sounded nice to me. But then the initials are MF. LOL! Probably not a good thing! Anyway, good luck finding the perfect name!
