Ancient Rome because they were very advanced and had a lot of power at the time.

Ancient Greece was split into several parts, some were more women friendly than others. Some kingdoms were male dominated where women had no rights, others were more liberal. Some colonies turned to the other extreme and were female dominated. Neither is particurly balanced or satisfactory.
The Roman society was definitely patriachal and females had few or no rights.
I should have prefered to live at the time of the Ancient Romans but in one of the Barbarian extremities.
In the Celtic societies women had similar rights to the men. In terms of democratic rights to all individuals the Romans put the rest of Europe back nearly 2000 years.

There are a lot of 'eras' for each civilization. I would love to live in ancient greece and go on vacation each summer to ancient rome... :)

Oh tough question. I've wondered the same thing myself. I'd have to go with Ancient Greece. I think their culture interests me far more than Ancient Rome. Plus I've always wanted to go to Greece and wished I could see the buildings in all their glory.

Ancient Greece, before the more patriarchal cultures began to blend in. It was much more matriarchal, politically, and a system of worship based on a mother goddess. I am fascinated by the Eleusinian mysteries.
