I'm hoping to get my first rabbit very soon and I've read up and I know what I'm doing, but I've yet to find a real list of the things you need to buy if you've never owned a rabbit before (cage, food and ect. obviously but what else?)

Depends if it is male or female and if it is going to be bred or not. If it is a female and you plan on breeding her for babies, you will need a nest box and straw. My daughter's rabbit hops around the house and she taught it to use a litter box (like for cats). It's much cleaner that way. It also depends on where you live. If it is very cold in the winter and you have the cage outside, you will need to prepare it for winter with a roof and a warm cover to keep snow off, etc. If you live in a hot climate you will also need a roof for shade and make sure they are in the shade all day. A water bottle that hangs on the cage is best for water so the bunny doesn't sit in the bowl and foul up the clean water. Clean the cage often.

First, big big cage! Don't buy one from a pet store that is labeled as a rabbit cage. Go with a dog crate, dog exercise pen, or an NIC cage. Check here for more info on housing:

Grass hay, and lots of it.

Plain pellets, preferably timothy for adults.

Litter and a litter box. I use normal cat litter boxes with wood pellet litter similar to Feline Pine, but I buy it at a feed store. It's much cheaper there.

Toys!

White vinegar for cleaning.

Covers for electrical cords- check the electrical section of hardware stores. I use the spiral stuff.

Nail clippers.

Brush, I like the Zoom Groom for cats.

Rabbit savvy vet!!! Not all vets can treat rabbits, and some do more harm than good. Check here for help finding a rabbit-savvy vet.

A sense of humor. :)

And please adopt!

u can get a starter kit make sure its the right size for ur bunny i personally got a large one for mine so it has lots of room
pellets(food) water timothy hay bedding litter box some littlle toys like cat toys so the rabbit can play with it . But besides the basics rabbits are social animals so u make sure u give lots of attention talk to it play with it let it run around the house for like 3-4 hours . Mine is a indoor mini rex rabbit he is adorabe he greets me in the mornings we cuddle every night he loves to lick thats because he is a suck he will play for a while then come to me and lie down rabits hate to be ignored so pay attention to it or ur rabbit will be depressed and lonely if u dont oh ya nail clippers to trim nail and make sure ur rabbit has a vet mine goes every year
Dont let ur rabbit nibble carpets or banket it will make them sick and im glad that u did ur research i just giving the basics that i can remember but i usually go to rabbit sites to find all my info tat i need i got my rabbit at 5 weeks now he is 1 years old they can live up to 7-11 years pretty long rabbits do shed every 3 months and perferably get one from a humain society even though i got mine from a pet store its not usually recommended to get one from a pet store but he was just too cute but hes healthy. So do ur reseach find out all u need from that reseach and good luck on ur new pet

I think that's great that you're doing your research beforehand! Yes, please consider adopting (we used Petfinder.com to find both of our rabbits!) and if you want to learn more about your bunny and meet other bunny owners, check out www.rabbitsonline.net!
