yes ...but when your ip assigns that ip to someone else later youll have connection problems which is why you should always leave it on automatic

you would always have the same IP address on your computer, but unless the address was provided to you from your upstream, it would not be able to get packets from the internet.

most IP addresses for lower price connections are obtained through a dynamic process called DHCP.

this is used by providers because it simplifies reorganizing networks. when a neighborhood runs out of IP addresses, the provider can put in more addresses, and have them deployed automagically.

my own proposal, to use your GPS address as part of your IP (version6+) address would solve many of todays routing issues, but, alas has not been funded properly..

if you choose static ip that means your ip address will not change whenever you connect to any network, this configuration will work for specific network settings not for all network unless the network your connecting to has same values of subnet mask and gateway and its in the same subnet.

Yes, until you change it or set it back to DHCP.

If you are referring to your address that is given to you by your internet provider, you can't change that yourself. Even if you assign a different address, it will not work.

NO. ALL OF THAT INFORMATION IS GIVEN TO YOU FROM YOUR INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER AUTOMATICALLY.
IF YOU MKESS WITH THAT, YOU COULD CAUSE YOUR PC TO BE UNABLE TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET UNTIL YOU GET THE ORIGINAL INFO BACK

Unless you change it back to dynamic, then yes.
