I am planning to build a computer in August. With DDR3 memory catching up in the future, should I go for a DDR3 capable mobo or not? I am open to all other hardware choices as well. Thanks

The Intel P35 chipset supports DD3. I don't think there is a board that supports both DD2 and DD3, but it's quite possible that someone will make one. I advise you to NOT buy a board like this, because there are almost always serious problems with these types of boards. Just stick to one standard at a time. Few companies have the expertise to make such a complicated design.

If you want a DDR3 motherboard, Asus makes one.

yes the P35 mobos from gigabyte support both ddr3 and ddr2 ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128048 they also support 45mm cpu's which is what intel's going to use for there next serie's of cpu's that are quad core so the mobo has alot of future proofing in it

Do not confuse videoRAM (ddr3) that are onboard graphics card with system RAM (ddr or ddr2) that sre on the motherboard. They are entirely different. Any recent motherboard that has ddr2 system RAM will accept a graphics card with ddr, ddr2 or ddr3 video RAM.

DDR3 is not yet supported by motherboards as system RAM.
