No the media was patriotic during those years and didn't print anything that would hurt the country.

There was some media hostility to FDR and his management of the war. However, the hostility did not generally extend to hostility to the war effort in general.

No, there were no daily body counts for a variety of mostly technical reasons. But, Americans received far more information on military operations (both successful and not) than we do today.

There are a few MAJOR differences between FDR/WWII and Bush/Iraq. FDR asked Americans to sacrifice, did everything he could to win and did win WWII. Bush has not asked Americans to sacrifice(so that the American public wouldn't demand a quick victory), has done every DAMNED thing wrong and will not win a war against a 3rd world country.
Thank GOD for the American free press. It isn't what they tell us that should concern us. It is what they don't tell us that should scare the hell out of us.

Generally the media were supportive. But then, World war 2 was a just war--we WERE attacked--and we were fighting the people who attacked us.

Despite the objections of conservatives who continued to support Hitler even after his U-Boats startd sinking American ships within sight of the Eastern Seaboard.

no, he was pretty saavy about public affairs and public relations and such. he carefully make his moves when conditions were "right." that is, when he felt confident he had the support of "the people." it has long been said he knew perfectly well what was gonna happen at pearl harbor and chose to let it happen because he knew the u.s. must join the allies or the axis powers would dominant. again, he was saavy and was surrounded with wise old men, plus winston churchill had his highest respect.

The reason why we won as we heard no body counts. If the media and leftist politicians had their way, we would have lost the war within the first year.

People had sense then and realized the importance of contolling the media in a time of war.

Yes The American people have a way of complain about most wars and some folks complain about everything since we have free speech it will always be that way and that is the American way
