Both. Taking "orders" is your responsibility when you work for someone else but in my job, my boss is always open to new ideas so if he wants me to do something a certain way, I will tell him if I think another way is better, explain why and the benefits of it and he usually lets me run with my ideas. Being a self starter and taking initiative is great, but if a boss tells you to do something, you have to do it, that's your job. You don't have to like it but if you choose to work there, that's all there is. We have small office tho, when I started, I took over the AP/AR dept and saved the company over $16000 in 3 months by cutting costs and organizing the warehouse, so they pretty much let me do what I want..hahaha!!

I can take orders but I'm not too fond of doing so as I'm very independent and stubborn and like to do things my way.

I prefer suggestions. That way I can decide whether to act on them or not.

An order? No, I don't do well with that. Not that I have to do it my way, I just don't think I should have to do it their way.

Lol, I'm terrible at taking orders. I really don't mean to be, but I've always been the same.

I like a lot of input when I'm working, so I'm always open to hearing how others would do things, and if there is someone who has already done something successfully that I'm working on, I'm grateful when they tell me what to do.
