5x - 3 = x + 25

put all your x's to one side:

5x - 3 - x = x + 25 - x
4x - 3 = 25

then put all your numbers to the other side:

4x - 3 = 25
4x - 3 + 3 = 25 + 3
4x = 28

then divide by 4 to get a single x on one side:
4x/4 = 28/4
x = 7

good luck!

In order to get the variable x in either of the side, we have to subtract x from both sides. So we can get,
4x-3=25
Next, in order to solve x, add 3 on both sides and divide 4 both sides.
So we would get, x = 7.
