So whats the deal w/ facebook? is it really that great? and is true that everybody is switching over from myspace to facebook? I dont really care for myspace anymore, or any online social networking website because i wasted many countless hours, but i was just curious... ive been hearing a lot about it, so how are they different and which is better?

Facebook is a lot safer (if you put it on full privacy) Even if it is on low privacy no one outside your network can view your page and if someone friend requests you then you can put them on your limited profile till you know who they are. Its safer and there are fun application. Myspace does not have applications. The last thing I like about facebook is it helps me keep in touch with old friends from AGES ago. Have a great day! :-)

To tell you the truth , both are kinda lame. Myspace is not the greatest I've ever tried, in fact it's not any good. I mean, there is no security and it's just a bunch of spam. On the other hand, facebook is a lot more centered on YOUR real friends. Also you can join networks for your own school and such, and you always know the names and last names of everyone you are adding as friends. It is really easy to use, and you don't have to worry about all the spam crap or the hard layout codes. Facebook doesn't allow those two things...it's just a site to talk to your friends, and be sure that you are not going to be stalked by random people. I definitely recommend it. In my opinion it is MUCH better than myspace.

If you have any other specific questions about it..feel free to ask me ^^

Facebook seems to be used more by college kids (or soon-to-be college kids) who want to keep in touch with friends or old high school friends. It's not that different from myspace...it's more detailed and you can do more things like give "gifts" to people or "poke" people. And there's a lot of networks you can join...but basically I think it's the same concept as Myspace.

There is one major difference between myspace and facebook. I'm on both and because of this difference, I prefer myspace.

On myspace you can look for anybody and see their profile (unless it's set to private obviously) but on facebook you cannot. The only way to see anything on their profile is to add and be accepted as a "friend" first.

Now, if you want to just keep in touch with friends and family, that's fine, but if you want to see what somebody is up to years after seeing them in school but don't want them to be on your friends list, you're SOL... Unfortunately, that's my situation. I am curious what people are up to that I went to school with however I don't want to add them because most of the people I went to school with picked on me and I don't want them as a "friend".
The best you can do on facebook is to view who is on a particular person friend list.... I am not entirely sure what the big deal is about it but hey, if you want, it's worth a shot... like myspace, it's easy to sign up for and easy to get rid of.
Outside of that they're pretty similar... you can have networks, add things to your page, send gifts (pretty much like leaving a comment on myspace and adding an image), etc.

Hope that helps.

I think facebook is better because it gives you a photographic image and it combines all the function of hotmail or myspace or any other account... I like it mostly for it's applications, like marketplace (posting something online everyday) I have so far gotten two free dinners, 4 peices of free furniture, a mercedes benz for $580 dollars a month, 4 highschool textbooks for $20.00 a well polished resume for 50 cents, three love interests, 4 job offers, and a personal stalker for $5.00 :)

I have both...personally, I like facebook better...the majority of the people on there are college age or juniors/seniors in hs...I just find it easier to use and most of my friends have facebook and not myspace...It's really just personal preference...I know on facebook you can create/join groups and I'm not sure if you can do that on myspace...

I shut down my Myspace for Facebook. I like a lot better, because it's mostly people from my school and people I actually know that can access my page and such. It's more fun, and more options. You can get pets, give/get gifts, horoscopes, and you can have a lot of applications choices that you can also put on your page. I think you should give it a try. =)

Yeah its actually really fun, its easy to see who is in ur networks and everything.

I actually was able to find a friend that I lost contact with after grade nine when he moved away. Hes engadged now and what not.. Its a nice way to connect and you can control which networks are able to reach you and theres different ways to block people as well.

A friend of mine mailed me the other day to say "I've added you as a friend on Facebook."

I didn't know then what it was or why, or what he wanted me to do about it. Reading your question and its answers, I feel even more that I'm not interested (tho I should admit I don't really know what Myspace is either).

Thanks for your help!

a lot of people are making the switch because of the intense amounts of ads on myspace, it gets annoying. facebook doesn't allow you to be quite as creative however, but personally i like it more.
