The Bush administration has announced plans to cut funding for the State Children's Health Insurance Program (sometimes known as SCHIP or CHIP). This programs helps to fill in the gap for parents who make too much money for medicaid but not enough for traditional health insurance. 90% of all children on this program have at least one parent in their house hold who is working. I urge each and every one of you to take a moment and email your state Senators and local representative and let them know that this program is important to the overall health of your community. Should you need additional information or perhaps the email address of your representative, send me an email and I will be glad to help. Thank you in advance.

A state lottery would solve many problems for those whio need and cannot afford health insurance. As a matter of fact, health care should be first on the agenda for every state AND government.
The program is NOT part of a welfare system. Get real.
And for those of you who are so against welfare or anything similar, stop being so phony. Half of you have either been on it at one time or another, or have someone in your family who did, or is still taking advantage of it.
Raise your awareness sillies!
The worse and most fraudulent 'welfare' is called corporate welfare. Been going on for decades.

shush Amy. You aren't doing any more than a lot of other people. You have a job? good. How long do you think you are going to have that job?
Nothing is guaranteed.
Sick of social programs?
Until you walk in someone else's shoes, stop being so phony.

and don't get the wrong idea either. My parents take very good care of me, but they have always always taught me that as quickly as you can own it, is as quickly as it can be taken away.
so just hush
silly.

Uh. When did the executive branch get control of the nation's purse strings. Is congress not the branch that appropriates funding? Have I misread the constitution? Have you?

Is there a reason this should be funded by the federal government rather than by state governments?

What has happened to "personal responsibility" in this country? I work and have my son on my health plan. I pay through the nose for medical insurance. Why do I have to pay and someone else get it for their kids for free. It is a known fact that of the 47 million people who are without medical insurance, half of them have jobs and could get medical insurance, but they choose to spend their money on something else. That is their problem not mine. I'm sick of these social programs taking my hard earned tax dollars. I'm with him on this, this program should be cut!

funding cuts step on somebodys toes regardless of
where they are. If I were making cuts there would be lots
of social programs and it would be done with a dart board.

Of course Bush wants to cut help for children. What do you expect from a man who gleefully orders the bombing of Iraqi children?

I disagree. Social programs that the federal government gets involved in are costly, poorly run, never end and are used by Democrats to buy votes.

Socialist health systems suck. This is a fact, do not try to argue with it.

Although, he should take the funding away from blackholes like welfare.
