Replace the condenser and make sure you have non-resistor plug wires on it. (the points shouldn't arc if they're aligned and the condenser is good... Often the new cheap *** condensers will be bad right out of the box.)
Check the primary resistance in the coil it should be around 1.5 ohms... (between the primary terminals with the wires all disconnected)
I think the secondary windings are around 8,000 Ohms...
BTW is the rotor on the distributor shaft? and does the rotor turn when you crank the engine over?
I think you have a bad condenser. but it might be the rotor.
Good luck!

Are you sure you installed the rotor? If so, Have the coil tested. Are distributor cap and rotor new? If not, try cleaning contact points. Good luck.

You do have the gap set at .016" on the points? Check the cap, rotor, and condenser.

As a test, pull the cap and have another person tap the starter and see if the rotor turns.

good luck.

Check the cap and rotor carefully ,you may not have the cap seated completely or correctly OR you may have a broken center (carbon button) electrode in the cap or BENT CONTACT ON TOP OF THE ROTOR.
