Hello Iam 26 on birth control and sexually active I missed a few pills this month and expected my period last monday but it came early I started by spotting a light pink than it went to a brown color So instead of having my normal flow i have been spotting brown/pink for the last 7days.Is this just normal sometimes? or can it be caused by stress or other factors?

I've been bleeding myself the last few days and it's been mostly brown which is just old blood.

Stress can cause our periods to be delayed as well. But missing a few pills can cause the kind of spotting that you are having right now.

I would also recommend checking with your doctor to see what they think could be going on.

There's probably nothing to worry about. Every female's period color is different. The spotting is probably due to the fact that you missed a few pills. If your period is not normally brown it could be excess blood that the uterus is shedding. It's just like a cut when the blood clots and turns brownish...don't worry about it unless it continues for more than ten days or more than your period lasts, then consult a doctor.

It happens because birth control supresses your period and so the blood kinda just sits where it is and becomes old. The brown blood is old blood that's been sitting there waiting to come out. I'd say the best thing you can do is directly (immediately) after your period is over, douche thouroughly. That should clean out any excess old blood and you should be normal from there, if not, SERIOUSLY, consult your doctor. It could be more of a problem that your not seeing or know of.

you said that you missed a few pills right. there is a chance that you might have gotten pregnant any now you might be having a miscarriage. if thats the case you might want to go to the doctor because if you were pregnant and now having one you need to make sure it all comes out.

it happens at the beggining and end of your period because the red turns to brown because its oxidizing. No problems

This happened to me once and it turned out that I forgotten my diaphragm in me. The OB/GYN discovered it upon examining me to see if I was pregnant. Talk about embarrassed!
