Medieval european history, as it has been intentionally destorted to make the contrast with the renaissance era more dinstict. All during the medival ages there has been a fruitful exchange of cultural goods among the populations of the mediaterranean territory, with Arabs playing leading role in the preservation of ancient greek wisdom and the cultivation of an elegant and progressed civilisation.
Reading the story of the crusades (prefferably Grousset's), one can see all this movement materialized in the reagion of meadle east, as, apart from the daily battles, a secret and respectful communication and understanding between the western and the eastern opponent parties had been established, with Salahoudin sending presents to his enemy French king of Jerusalem, and with Sufis having established spiritual bonds with the Templars.
A fascinating period, stainned by misunderstandings, like the issue of the Holy Inquisition which was, in reality, a contruction of early renaissance...

Things I would change: I would impede Isabella and Ferdiando make "la reconquista" and I would save the Arabian Kingdom of Granada, which gave a perfect example of artistic, scientific and philosophical developement, and absolute religious tollerance.

I like ww II history, the revolution, a little of the dark ages, renaissances is good. Not sure if i would really change anything other than..... since the British and America are good friends now we should have opened up the visa thing a long time ago. See if you are apart of the common wealth you can travel and work in almost every country (if not every country in the Common Wealth). I have family in England but (am a U.S citzen and have to go through all this hassle if I was to work over there. Why bother? So that's what I would change. Open up the Atlantic and allow us Americans to work in Britain and the rest of Europe without all the hassle. Remember the Marshall Plan.

o ya that whole 9/11 thing and all the mess that has been created because of it... didn't need to happen. That's what I would seriously change.

Well my favourite part is the one that has to do with Minor Asia during 1918-1923. I wish I could prevent the destruction of the whole city of Smyrni.. It was so sad and cruel...
I think that if the greek army had not invaded Turkey almost up to Ankara, and gathered up around the Smyrni prefecture, things may not end as they did...
The saddest thing is that it was all about politics. Having read a couple of books (historic and literature), it is mentioned that Greeks and Turks were peacefully living together.

Why did it have to be like that? If only I could turn back time...

First of all from the greek history, the ancient one, the mythology also. From the recent one, the Revolution of 1821,and 1940 the fights of our nation, and all the heros who gave their life for us, in order to have our country free, and to be greeks today, against every occupation which put our country into the dark, either the one of 1821, or 1940...
In our history i wouldnt make any change, these are facts, the greeks for centuries have fought against all the occupations of our country, this makes us proud...
The heros fight as greeks, not the greeks as heros...

I am Greek so i think you expect me to say that i would like to change the period when Greece was ruled by Turkey and of course the revolution of 1821, but let me tell you something, actually i like this period, because Greeks gave their lives for mother Greece, because people then had strength, courage, faith and their most important concern was freedom and not which cell phone to buy in order to be in fashion. I wouldn't like to change anything from the ancient past, i would like to change the war in Irak when all these kids died. I would like to change the bad days coming...., because there will be bad days, unfortunately.
