Wow you don't have a Sears or JCPenney to size you?

OK, you can take a bra out of its box to try it on in the store in a fitting room.

Now to measure yourself.

Measuring tape around the chest under the breasts. Round up. Add four if it is an even number and five if it is an odd number. THAT will be your BAND size.

Now measure around your breasts at the widest part. Round up. Take the first measurement from the second measurement.

A 1" difference is an A, 2" is a B, 3" is a C.

Now you have a size to start at. REMEMBER that bra sizes are NOT standardized. You could be a 38C in one bra and a 38DD in another brand bra (trust me, I'm a 38C in one bra and a 38DD in another!).

BTW I don't recommend going to Victoria Secret because I've heard many negative remarks about their (lack of) ability to size correctly, and have been there and done that myself.

It is perfectly okay to take a bra out of its box to see if it fits properly.

To find a bra that fits you better, look for bras that are in the cup size that you wear, and then get the measurement one size smaller and one size bigger, so that you try on three different sizes of the same bra (for example, if you're a 34C, get a bra that you like in a 34C, a 32C and a 36C to try on before purchasing one of them). Be sure to pick bras from a lot of different brands, because sizes and fit vary from brand to brand slightly. See how they feel and look when you put your clothing back on over top of it, and how it fits when you raise your hands over your head, when you bend over, etc. If you have larger breasts and have never tried an underwire or are reluctant to try an underwire, there are many brands that are making "comfort" underwires that are less likely to get pokey after you wash them a few times, and you should really try one!

A way you can find out about the bra that fits you best is to consult a bra fitter. These ladies come in to the big dept stores on a Sat to help women find the right bra for them. The service is free. Check in the next biggest town to see if these stores are available for you to access the bra fitter.

As for trying them on in the store, yes it should be ok but check with the customer service rep for that dept to make sure if you can do it.

You may be wrong about your cup size. Sometimes women think they're a B and really they're a small C. Try them on, it's ok. It should be comfortable, bring your breasts up to where they should be, and you shouldn't bulge anywhere on your back. Go here http://www.motherwear.com/cs/brachart.cfm Just measure the areas it says, and it will tell you your size. You may even be in between and need special made bras. Give it a shot.

Just try on a whole bunch of bras until you find a comfortable one. Some brands fit a little differently so if you find one that fits good buy a couple of the same style and brand.

Major department stores offer free bra sizing. Just go to the women's underwear section and ask a lady to help you. They'll measure you for free.

Is there a Victoria Secrets anywhere around? They usually have a "bra lady." That will find you the right size. No one says you have to buy them there.
