obviously everyone knows hes a great player with a lot of talent but he is just atrocious durin these summer league games. while it can be true that he's just not ready for the nba, something still tells me that this may be a calculated move on china's part to not have yi in mil. anyone else get that impression?

There are a wide variety of things contributing to his poor play as of late, including the fact that China doesn't have any guard play to help his game. Although, it is nearly impossible to overlook the fact that Yi simply is not a good player. He is very athletic and has been developed well, but when it comes to the NBA, he won't cut it. Yi has no toughness, plays no defense, and shoots a poor percentage. That is a very bad combo of drawbacks compared to his upside. Those things being said, I do think you are on to something: Yi seems to be punishing the Bucks for drafting him. It is obvious his value isn't going to drop too much despite his poor play because a lot of teams can utilize him and his fan base potential, so the risk of punishing the Bucks like this is small. (Yes, you are right in my opinion.)

No. Remember the #1 and #2 picks (Oden and Durant) haven't been exactly lighting it up either.

It's in Yi's and the China's best interest for Yi to get in the league and start muscling up so that come 2008, China might have a chance to finish respectable in the Olympics. That's why they want more CHinese players in teh NBA anyways.

Conspiracy theory? :) I dont think he is that good and he is not faking anything. Yao's game is patterned in the low post and he has the height to do it. Yi does not have the build to do so. He has the touch from the outside, yes, but, he has to remember that the forwards who will be guarding him are about as tall as him and with bigger builds. He reacted to soon by acting prima dona. He will self-destruct sooner than we think.

I've said it before and I'll say it again- he's the Chinese version of Danny Ferry. A mediocre player who is not nearly as good as he thinks. Milwaukee needs to move him now before it's too late.

This is common knowledge that he does not want to play in Milwaukee...he's not faking anything, he just does not want to go there.

you know i was thinking the same but i just think he sucks because why would he act like he is not good, that would not help him get to another team.
