I defiantly take my IUD over pills any day. I have the Mirena and love it. I have no more PMS or heavy painful periods. The BC pill made me a very difficult person to live with. With the IUD I'm not mean at all.

I have never used an IUD but I have talked to ladies who have and one side effect I've heard from several of them is that of cramping because of the product inside the uterus. I've heard others talk about having bleeding at times other than their period.

Some have also said that the insertion was quite painful.

I would recommend also checking with your dr to see what they have heard as far as side effects from their patients.
