I am just wondering, we see gas go up 10 to 20 cents with a flooding.. in 1993 there was a giant flood in the midwest and I dont remember gas prices suddenly rising, but now, since its a norm, they rise when a fly sneezes on a pipeline.. why is this!

It does seem that gas prices are set on speculation and whims. I think it is so the oil Co.'s can continue to make record profits.

Greed.

Just to note. The flood that took place in Kansas happened a few weeks ago and even though the refinery was closed down then, until it hit the press (about being shut down) the prices didn't rise at all.

Ever notice when people get furious about occurrences like that and take action to boycott fuel the oil companies often-times get frantic and don't raise the prices?

Look at the economy of China and India and you will l see why prices are rising. We have also done nothing to lower our dependence and haven't built a new refinery in this country since the 70's. The democrats are loving the hell out of these increases, they are raking in the dough.

I don't know...and frankly, some of the price hikes seem very unjustified.

Our state legislature is FINALLY looking into possible price-gouging.
Of course, the petroleum industry probably has the Legislature in their pocket and any viable investigation will probably reveal no substantial evidence of wrong-doing.

Greedy oil companies my foot. OPEC people, OPEC. They decide how many barrels they will release every year and they have steadily declined their oil output every year for the past decade. Since tree huggers won't let us drill ANWR, we have to rely on getting oil from other countries.

And since that nutjob dictator in Venezuela kicked American oil companies out gas is going to go higher because one of our suppliers is no longer selling us oil.

Greedy oil companies with paid-off "experts", and a very gullible American people.

I hear people say, "Wow gas is down to $3!", and they are actually happy about it. It shouldn't be that high to begin with.

it's ridiculous... it maybe used to go up like a cent... now it goes up 20?

Iran sneezes and it goes up 30 more...

these speculators are ridiculously jumpy... almost as if they are making money off of it?
