No way. Tips are reserved for those who give good service

Not ever! I waitressed for 18 years before I decided to go to college to become a teacher. I am hyper-critical of the service I am given in restaurants, and my tip is based accordingly. Lousy servers do not deserve a tip, as a tip is a "gift" from their customer. It is not part of the package.

If a waitress/waiter is rude to you, don't tip them. Eventually they will find a different line of work or get a clue and start providing better service. Have a great week! Annie

No way! Your tip is paying for their service and if the service is poor then they get zip from me!

My daughter had an instance where the waitress was rude so they didn't leave a tip & the waitress came running out of the restaraunt yelling at her & her friend so they went back inside to complain & the waitress was fired.

Not only would I not leave a tip, I would ask to speak to the manager or the owner. Let them know what happened in a polite way.

I would assume it was a misunderstanding of some sort and probably tip, anyway. I would leave the standard 15-20% though, instead of a better tip like I usually leave.

no you shouldn't because if they didnt treat you the way that you teated them...you shouldn't leave any tip and tell the manager of the business about the waitress actions

Absolutely not.

Waitstaff is paid very little in the form of salary. Most of their income comes from tips. In a sense, you are their employer, paying them via tip, to serve you. Any employee who doesn't perform their job well, or is "mean" or rude to their boss, does not earn their wage.

No. Tipping stands for To Insure Promptness, but it's also for good service. Being mean is not good service.

NO. Happened the other day to me and my mom. We thought he was just having a bad day, but he was chipper to everyone else. It also depends on the restaurant though. I may just leave 2 cents though. haha
