Any normal surge protector should work just fine.

Surge protectors are fairly useless. They just have the same devices that the computer supply already has, and only ground out voltages above 200 volts or so. The best way is to shell out $80 for a UPS. It actually generates clean electricity from batteries and only takes a few thousandths of a second to come on if the power fades or surges. It also keeps your computer running during a power failure so you don't lose everything.

A " ups " so to speak is a device that will give a computer 1 - 4 hours of running time if a blackout was to occur. It's like a battery for a computer. a UPS does not protect a computer from a power surge although it does protect your computer from black outs. the ups will give you a few hours to safely shut your computer down incase the power blacks out. i do not know of any brands but if you get a UPS and a surge protector, you should be able to have 2 hours of time to shut down and backup in case of a power surge or blackout.
