Because it is impossible to create the infrastructure in Iraq to mass pipe it out. The country is too unstable. Even the people who believe that oil isn't a factor in the Iraq war could tell you that.

This conflict isn't just about oil. there is somewhat some ties to special oil in touch, yet there are different factors in touch. Genocide via the Saddam Hussein regime, humanitarian efforts misappropriated, besides as a sense of unfinished business enterprise from the 1st Iraq conflict whilst Bush Sr left workplace with out having completed each and every of the targets set forth, and the Clinton placed it on the back burner. the priority with this conflict, is Bush on no account listened to the professionals on a thank you to end the point, went in a million/2-assed and now, we are caught interior the midst of a 2000 year old religious sect conflict that each and every physique choose to mis-label as a civil conflict. Civil wars could be ended, yet religious wars will rage on and on.

The oil from Iraq is being used for oil security. NATO no longer relies on Russia for oil (Russia is the worlds largest oil producer far surpassing OPEC and Canada) Its also being used to hold Russia, Iran, and OPEC hostage (to keep them from increasing oil prices) If the United States released its vast oil reserves (including the oil taped from Iraq) it would cause supply to skyrocket above demand drastically decreasing the price of oil and destroying the Russian/Iranian economy. Be thankful you haven't seen the oil because it means that the United States is the most powerful country on the planet.

It isn't all about oil. Not that the oil companies aren't getting fat as ticks. The very fact that there's a war in Iraq can allow oil companies to claim that oil is tougher to get and prices must rise. I don't think many people really expect oil execs to claim much of anything anymore. They don't have to. They could charge 100 times what they pay for oil and no one could do anything about it. Well, Bush could. Fat chance. The war is also about keeping the oil from other countries like Russia and China. It's also about misdirection: keeping the poor and ignorant busy with an enemy to fight while Bush and his cronies dismantle our Constitutional Democratic Republic and set up a Dominionist, neocon, neoChristian (that's Christianity with no compassion and allot of judgment) theocracy.

It's the second oil reserve in the world. They're trying to drill, but that's hard to do when people keep blowing up pipelines, equipment and workers.
Another reason for the rise in prices is increased competition from China. This had been predicted a long time ago, that on the day China started driving cars instead of bicycles, the price of oil would never be like before.
In fact, China is one of the reasons that pressured the U.S. into Iraq - increased competition for that precious, filthy oil.

Oil equals power in the middle east whether we like it or not. If we hope to stabilize Iraq and the region itself, we and our allies need influence. There is no influence without power. And there is no power unless you have control over the oil.
It's interesting that recently 2 companies finally started receiving oil from Iraq. Those companies are based in Indonesia and China...both countries opposed the war in Iraq.
So it's NOT really all about Bush and his buddies getting rich from oil profits.

Because if there was a glut of Iraqi oil on the market, the price would drop as would the oil company profits.
Believe me, the major oil companies are waiting for the Saudi reserves to dry up, then you will see Iraqi fields going in full production ASAP.

the iraq war is not really about oil alone but the most important reasons are stratigic purpose, mainly to containe iran threats against the oil rich countries in the gulf. anyway the usa wouldn t just take iraqi oil for free. the oil infrastrucure needs lot of investement and modern equipment. to restore its usuall level of production that in peacful atmosphere. but who is taking the risk to invest in this crazy country.

The bad-guys are preventing us from taking the oil, plus the political situation is on the verge of DENYING us any future oil business. That is why Bush is preparing to move against the al-Maliki government. Remember, President Bush and VP Cheney promised that the Iraqi oil revenues would pay for the entire war. We need to stick to that plan!

It's not about the actual oil itself, it's about the profits from oil and who reaps those benefits. Gas prices will stay high because it isn't the people who will benefit from the fruits of the war, it will be Halliburton and Bush and Cheney and their cronies. And this stupid war has so thoroughly damaged the infrastructure of Iraq, it's going to be a long time till anybody sees any oil coming out of there in any significant amounts.
