From an evolutionary perspective, there is nothing reproductive about the butt, but people see it as erotic. Why? Also, why do people want anal and oral sex? There's no reproductive value in having sex in these ways. Millions of years ago, it took mother nature a huge incentive to get animals to want to reproduce. That's where the orgasm came in. However, some human sexual behavior doesn't make sense.

It's all a personal preference. To one person it's sexual, to another...you couldn't get them to get near it with a ten foot "pole". lol

Wide hips and a large backside are related to levels of female hormones in the body while she is going through puberty; it shows how fertile and reproductively fit a woman is.
Also, it is important that we become more and more aroused as we become increasingly intimate and so when a guy can see a girl's butt he's probably in a position where he wouldn't have to try too hard to have sex with her.
As to your other question about different kinds of sex, a relationship is more complex than that; these types of behavior give us pleasure because our bodies work that way and the strength of a relationship between parents is just as important in child-rearing success as the number of kids born.

Large hips and buttocks, like large breasts, are indicators of high reproductive hormones and hence high fertility. It's also probably just part of the system of visual cues we use to distinguish males from females.
As for sexual practices that wouldn't result in a pregnancy, that's easy. Humans are intelligent, curious, and playful. They like to try out odd new things.

Actually, the butt is a pretty good indicator of survival fitness. We're built to run - our buttocks are the largest muscle in the body, yet we hardly use them at all when just walking, only when running. Being able to run down prey, or to get to and scavenge a corpse before other animals arrive, is a useful survival skill, and requires good buttock muscle.

It should not be seen as sexual at all. You are right in wondering how this deviant sexual desire became so mainstream. I think that we are the victims of a social engineering experiment by certain elements within our society who wish to make the sexually perverse the norm and this is now the result. The reason for sex is reproduction not recreation and the sooner we can come back to this honest truth the sooner society will be able to heal itself.
