So, I've been trying to find this very small book of poems that I picked up years ago. Don't know the name of the poet which makes it rather difficult. I know it's a woman and the poems were short and to the point, very abstract, prose-y. The one thing that really sticks out in my mind is that the poems were pretty passionate, almost erotic, about lovemaking, etc. And the book covering was red. That's it! And the poems were divided into topics...If someone could actually think of the book or author I'm talking about that would be a miracle!

Oh, and I would say this book was new when I picked it up and that was back in the late 90s.

It is SATAN SAYS by Sharon Olds. Most of her work back then was erotic. THE CELL is another from around that time.

Could be Satan Says by Sharon Olds...sounds like a lot of her work, and the book was red. Does this look familiar:
Sex Without Love
How do they do it, the ones who make love
without love? Beautiful as dancers,
gliding over each other like ice-skaters
over the ice, fingers hooked
inside each other's bodies, faces
red as steak, wine, wet as the
children at birth whose mothers are going to
give them away. How do they come to the
come to the come to the God come to the
still waters, and not love
the one who came there with them, light
rising slowly as steam off their joined
skin? These are the true religious,
the purists, the pros, the ones who will not
accept a false Messiah, love the
priest instead of the God. They do not
mistake the lover for their own pleasure,
they are like great runners: they know they are alone
with the road surface, the cold, the wind,
the fit of their shoes, their over-all cardio-
vascular health--just factors, like the partner
in the bed, and not the truth, which is the
single body alone in the universe
against its own best time.

I have no clue, but in any event, you ought to pick up Anais Nin's Delta of Venus (erotic short stories.)
Passionate, erotic, about lovemaking, etc.
Woo-hoo!
