Has anyone had experiences (good/bad) with taking their infant on a beach vacation? My husband and I are thinking about taking our baby (he will be 5-months by then) to Mexico for a week. We will stay at an all-inclusive resort. Thoughts, anyone?

I think is ok. 6months would be the at ease age, but just limit the amount of sun intake by baby hat, and try to cover as much skin as you can with out over heating the baby. Try baby sunscrean, ask your doctor about bullfrog sunscrean, i believe you can use that one on babys under 6months, but i'd still check with your doctor. also, try not to take the baby in the water, water increases the amout on uv's.

i took my baby to hawaii for our family reunion when she was 3months. It wasn't woo hoo fun, but it was a nice family experiance.

I have a 5 month old also, we live within a few blocks of the beach. So far this summer, I have only made it up there once with the baby. It was not such a fun experience. I feel like I was constantly worrying about the sun and heat. I have found it easier to just stay home and go in the pool, that way I can bring him in when its too hot. I also feel like I now have to lug so much stuff to the beach...Umbrella, little tent, extra clothes, diapers, etc.
I feel like a beach vacation would be a good idea when they are a little older but not old enough to get in too much trouble.

my brother did this with his kids, one 2yrs one 6 months. They had a blast, things were set up for families and there was even a babysitter available. Be sure to get a lifejacket for the baby if you decide to go on any boat tours, since they may not have a small enough size. And pack alot of diapers, since any you have to buy will be pricey. THe baby may need a passport too, so look into that before you book the trip.
