A Clearing In The Wild by Jane Kirkpatrick, based on a true story of 1850s Missouri, she has written quite a few books about settlers, specifically women.
Beverly Lewis writes stories about Amish women.
Other authors she may enjoy are Jennifer Chiaverini, Cindy Woodsmall & Maeve Binchy.

Look for a Christian book store or if you have a Barnes & Noble or Borders, they should both have a "Christian" section. They have books there on many subjects that are related to religion and how to make yourself a "better" person type of books, which are very clean.

"Embraced by the Light", by Betty J. Eadie. It was first published in 1992. It's about 147 pages long in paperback (Bantam Books). Very comforting for a Christian whether grieving or not. I've read it after the deaths of my two parents. I dare say she'll love it.

Try the Left Behind series by LaHaye and Jenkins. It's all about the Great Tribulation! Young and old are touched by these books! And there are like 15 ... so it should keep her busy for awhile! Good luck and I'm sorry for your loss!

Biographies and autobiographies might be good. My grandma enjoys them. If you think your grandmother might like Christian Fiction, she should try Janette Oke books. They are mostly Christian inspirational historical fiction.

Buy her "Lucy's Treasure." It is a story older than she is and they don't write them like that any more. (They use editors now, but it is a moving, traggic story, with hope).

Here are some books she might like.
These 2 books are the stories of where different hymns come from. It has the words to the hymn and then a short history and info about who wrote it and why. I have given these as gifts.

The Mitford series by Jan Karon are perfect novels for an older lady with a religious background.

Any books by James Herriot would be great for her if she likes animals at all. All are wonderful collections of short stories. You might recognise the title All Creatures Great and Small?

Also you might find out if there are any young adult books that she always meant to read but never did. Things like Laural Ingalls Wilder's Little House books or Newbery winners from the past. I personally love reading children's novels and many people just never consider it as an option. I find it very relaxing to read kids books on occasion.
These are some she might like.
