I have recently bought a Dell Inspiron 1520. I have Roadrunner with Time Warner on my desktop. I bought a NetGear wireless router. How could I make this all work to give myself internet access on my laptop, whether it's wired or wireless?

I only need it for a little while, I'll be moving out of the house soon.

This is still making my head spin. Time Warner installed my road runner for me... ick. I'm an idiot :(

basically follow the instructions on how to install the router.

Modem cable goes to the back of the router's internet port, then the PC gets plugged into any of port 1 - 4. plug the power into the cable modem first and wait, then the router. boot the PC and it should be working.

Connect the "WAN" (a.k.a. uplink) port on the router to the cable that is currently going to your desktop - take cable out of desktop and plug it into the router. (read the manual)

Does the netgear wireless router have more than 1 Ethernet (a.k.a. LAN) port? If yes, connect one of these ports to your desktop computer. If not, then your going to need a wireless card for your desktop computer too. Small money.
