He tells the truth, instead of stuff like "they hate us for our freedom" lines that conservatives find so appealing.
Honestly though I think it's because liberals respect him and some conservatives would say the world is flat if a liberal said it was round.

Most of them are not actually conservatives. The Neo-Cons are actually a group of Trotskyite Communists from the 4th International who switched parties in the 60s because the hippies were anti-war. These Neo-Cons joined in an alliance with the Rockefeller Republicans (a group of RINOs) and the National Review people (who actually corrupted what the Republicans once stood for) to promote perpetual war all over the world.
If you look back at history, the conservatives and libertarians were run out of the Republican Party in the early 60s and, while they did support some Republican candidates over the last few decades (Pat Buchanan, most notably), they've mostly been stuck in 3rd parties. Ron Paul has actually brought back together the anti-FDR coalition of the 30s-50s that was known as the Old Right.
The GOP leadership opposes Ron Paul because he would actually do away with the big government that they love. He would restore the Constitution and return America to what it was supposed to be. Henry Jaffa, of the Neo-Con Claremont Institute (a place that worships The Great Centralizer, Abe Lincoln as a God), actually tipped their hand a few years ago when he said in a debate with Thomas DiLorenzo that "9/11 proves we need big government." The truth is that the GOP leadership lies about their position on alot of issues and they really don't support Capitalism, limited government, or personal responsibility.

Remember a lot of people are easily swayed by media endorsements and commentary but more and more people are beginning to come to their own conclusions by conducting their own research. A new generation of Americans are emerging. They are think for yourself Americans. That is why you see opposition to man made global warming and less party loyalty on other issues.
We run polls to do this research. Right now these people are in a race with the changing laws that will be designed to silence these thinkers in the future. They will be labeled as terrorists for speaking out against government .
Sadly, these people are still in the minority and continue to be criticized by those who only watch CNN and FOX news.

The NeoCons destroyed and confused the Republican name. When Bush took over I would never become a Republican until I learned that almost everything he does is not in line with traditional Republican values. Now I am registering Republican to vote for Ron Paul.
Let's take America back from these bastards!

Ron Paul wants our govt to follow the US Constitution and most pols don't want to be bothered with that. Also, he was against the war and he wants to get out of Iraq, so he is not macho enough for many Repubs. He actually appeals to some liberals because of his libertarian beliefs.

There are social issues he thinks the government should not be involved in. He is a political philosophy conservative, not a religious Christian conservative.

Ron has been a bit sketchy on some of the things he has said. I continue to watch him and see how it goes. He has made some good moves though. We shall see.

Conservative USED to mean small government libertarians like Ron Paul.
Today, it has a lot more to do with nationalism, aggressive foreign policy, and religiously inspired social regulation.

I think of him as a right-wing Kucinich. His positions, although popular with the extremists in his party, are totally unrealistic and make him completely unelectable. In other words, he's a Libertarian.
