No it is not because you didn't eat anything. When a person has high blood sugars it is because they don't make enough insulin. I have been type 1 diabetic since age 14. Whether a person has gestational diabetes, type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes there is a lack of insulin production for different reasons. The fact that you did not eat and your blood sugar was still that high is a very big clue that you have gestational diabetes. You did not do anything wrong. You were suppose to be fasting. Many women develop gestational diabetes and they and the baby are just fine. You will have a higher risk for type 2 diabetes later in life if you don't watch your weight. My advice would be too look up information online for gestational diabetes because I feel that doctors don't do a good enough job telling women exactly how to help themselves control their blood sugars. Carbohydrates and sugar are basically the same thing so just because something says "sugar free" doesn't mean it is good for you to eat. You need to read lables and look for the total carbohydrates in a serving. I realize that this is a lot of information. I am NOT a doctor so I do not know everything. Please ask questions at your appointments and ask to meet with a nutritionist. These things will help you the most. Best of luck to you and don't be scared or feel guilty.

Hi I also failed my 1 hour test. Make sure u dont have hi carb hi sugar food 3 days prior to the test. It does make a difference. My sugar was 195 the first time and the second 75. Doctor was concerned about low sugar then. Dont stress about not passing the first one. Its common.

This is a fasting gd test, and no it is not likely it was high because you ate nothing...more than likely you may be gd. However, you will take a 3 hr gd test and then they can tell more likely whether you are gd or not.

I was with my 2nd child and controlled it with diet and exercise...don't be afraid, there are many classes out there to teach you the appropriate ways to control gd...

Good luck, don't panic, talk to your doctor.

that's really high, if you didn't eat your number should've been low. Your doctor will probably set you up with the 3 hour test which you must fast for...I just had mine on Monday, and luckily passed it! Good luck! Email me if you have any other questions/comments!
